We currently teach three different courses. You can inquire about any of them (or anything else!) below:
  • Understanding and Acting on Climate Change*: This is our primary course, one we have developed over many years. It starts with the basics of climate science, and focuses mostly on the wide range of climate solutions available; the benefits, challenges, and equity issues associated with them; and how to take action to promote them. Courses are typically 5 weeks long, but are sometimes arranged for other durations from 4 to 8 weeks.
  • *Note: This course was previously called “Can We Stop Climate Change?”, and you can see that in the logo at the top of the page. The title has now evolved to “Understanding and Acting on Climate Change”, which more accurately describes the course content.

  • Let’s Talk About Climate Change: This is a different format, an open monthly discussion group covering a range of climate change topics chosen by group leaders and group members together. These groups typically run as a series for 4 – 6 months, and can be tailored to meet your needs. We bring our background and experience with climate education, but not usually a prepared presentation, and allow group discussion and questions to guide the content.
  • What Can One Person Do About Climate Change: These are usually just one session, based loosely on the final “What You Can Do” session of our main 5-week course. They are for people who already know they want to take action and are just trying to figure out what’s the best way to contribute their unique skills and background to that effort.
Our classes meet in-person when possible, and over Zoom when that’s the best option for participants. They are offered through a variety of venues including university adult learning programs, libraries, community groups, and ad hoc groups organized by individuals. We welcome all inquiries and would be happy to try to organize a course for your group that meets your needs. Courses are typically limited to 20 participants to allow for group discussions.
